H380 and .223

I am trying some new to me recipies for my .223, and wondering why they do not recomend H 380 with a 40 grain Hornady V-max, but you can use it with a 50 grain V-max. ( does it creat to much pressure?) If anybody can shed some light on this or just some good solid info ,I would appreciate it.Thanks in advance.
 
Usually means it wasn't tested with that bullet weight when the manual was being prepared. H380 doesn't appear for any .223 load on Hodgdon's site either. However, my old 23rd Edition Hodgdon manual gives 27.0(3031fps. 28,000 cup) to 29.0(3111fps. 35,400 cup) grains of H380 for a 50 grain .223 Rem bullet.
 
H380 is a little slow burning for a 40grn bullets in the .223. The problem is it wont develope enough pressure for a proper burn and decent consistancy with the the 40gr projectile.
