I was loading for the first time H4198 for 300 gr JHP in 45/70. That powder looks green. Is it normal ? I only saw 4 types of powder in my life and it is for first time that is see this. I don't want to blow myself up . That powder was bought from Higginson powders.

I'm sure someone with that powder will chime in on the greenish tint.

Hodgdon Extreme powders have a olive color to them, from what I've gathered that is the coating which makes it so temperature tollerent.
I'd say it's probably normal, but I dont laod H4198, but Varget, H4350, H4895, are all olive in color.

See its been done to allow you to see the difference between the powders
H4198 is green and IMR 4198 will be black like regular gun powder.

Email or phone Higginsons powder and ask them. If there is something wrong, they will surely let you know.

I know I wasn't confused in the first place someone got me confused...

I know what I bought IMR3031 And H3031 and know the two powder companies joined together.

FWIW: Hodgdon does not make any of its own powders, there is no specifice Hodgdon powder factory, they bought out IMR, and Olin powders, but they kept the names of the lines seperate from their own. Most of the Hodgdon excruded powders come from Australia, IMR comes from Canada.
If you read the finer print at the back of the powder jugs it will say where it comes from.
