Through a random transaction by my father, the family was invited to meet Jim Shockey today and view a decent part of his collection.
Other than the odd video or various magazine ads I really didn't know much about Jim. It was a pleasure meeting him though. He seems like a very down to earth person who has spent the majority of his life traveling, exploring and hunting all over the world.
He has quite the impressive collection of antiquities/artifacts on top of all the Mounts and trophies. He took the time to explain and give the back stories about many items, and it was easy to see he has a genuine passion/appreciation for the items in his collection and enjoys sharing it.
It was also nice to hear my parents after the fact discussing how listening to Jim opened their mind on the topic of the benefits of hunting and its link to conservation as well. (Something I've been explaining to them for years)
All the animals (with the exception of 1) were harvested by Jim
