I recently bought some rifles off a gentlemen and he has once again approached me and asked if there is any value in a German made Haenel M28 break action Air pistol that his grandfather brought back from Germany after the war.
I see they were made in the 1930-1940s but I can't find a value.
The pistol still functions
Is anyone here familiar with this piece.
It is a 177 cal

Thanks

That looks like a Model 28. These were made before WWII. They are not very powerful. In his Pyramid Air blog, Tom ###lord (pen name BB Pelletier) said his shot between 250 -270 fps with lightweight 7.0 grain pellets.

From ###lord's blog, "the model 28 has a conventional breakbarrel for loading, but the gun is cocked another way. The barrel is only held by a chisel detent, so all you do is break the barrel down at any time to load. The action is cocked by unlatching the pistol grip, which is a subframe, from the upper frame of the gun and swinging it down and to the rear."

The pictures below, from ###lord's blog, show the loading and cocking procedure.

For what it's worth, the Blue Book of Airguns, Tenth Edition (2012) values the Model 28 between $50 and $240 (add 30% for box) depending on condition.

Clearly, it will have most value to a collector. It will have little appeal to the average airgun plinker looking for something with which to shoot targets or cans at close range.
