Haenel was owned by HK for a few years in the past decade, so there may be some licensing agreement in place.Interesting rifle, looks nice but definitely looks like a clone of an HK416. So much so, that I wonder if HK might try and sue them, or if it's built under license? (I know HK has had, and may still have very strong patents on their piston design) as well as the firing pin safety in the bolt carrier...
Why don't they make a semi-auto StG 44 for the commercial market? That would be different instead of another AR.

Yes, but be very careful with SSD products--both of mine were POS jam-o-matics (one had the claw on the bolt break off) and were returned to the seller. It's really too bad SSD had such QC problems.
