I live on the North end of Graham island. The Hunting was good this last year. The reason it was good though is because off islanders were not supposed to come out here. Conservation officers called all the people who drew bear tags not to come out. There were two check points on island turning around off islanders. We had family visit this summer and had to apply for essential worker permits to make it through the checkpoints. The norm out here is if someone returns from off island they self isolate for two weeks. BC ferries also asks for an essential workers permit at some point.
I work part time in forestry and dfo is actively looking for off island Hunters and fishermen.
The NDP also backed the Haida in closing the fishing lodges last year, not sure what's going to happen this year.
Rules for deer are 5 in possession. Bucks open June 1st does and fawns September 1st. Closes Feb 28.
If your from Alberta I think you will need a Hunter host.
Hope some of this helps.
