Quite a few months back, I bought 2 Bushnell Elite 3200 scopes of a fellow Gunnut. They were described as like new except for a scratch/ring mark on one of them.

I mounted the better one rigt away and just now was looking at the other, was giving it to my father. Anyway, on closer inspection the scratch is aactually a crack in the tube. It is not a gaping hole or anything, just a hairline crack.

What should I do? I obviously cannot sell it, I have let way too much time pass to bother with the seller (if i could even remeber who it was) Would Bushnell be acomodating in the least? or should I just seal it with something and use it?

I personally do not think it will ever make a difference, just concerned about a humid area and moisture getting in.

Call bushnell. They might say "jump off a bridge." You'll still have a buggered up scope either way. Ask! :D

Repair Process:
When your unit is received it will be assigned a repair number. After reading your letter a technician will evaluate your unit to determine what repairs are needed and whether or not warranty coverage will be applicable. It is our option to repair or replace your unit. If your unit is NOT covered under warranty an estimate for repair or replacement will be mailed to you. You will have 45 days to respond, either accepting or declining the recommendation. If you accept the recommendation for repair or replacement you will need to provide payment. That can be in the form of a check, money order, or if you prefer, by MasterCard or VISA. If the repair or replacement is covered under warranty, you will receive no additional correspondence. Your repaired unit or a comparable replacement of equal value and function will be shipped to you via Canadian Post.

A lot depends on the cause of the hairline crack. Does it look like an accident, abuse or can it be counted as defactive. Sounds like you have room to negotiate with Bushnell.

I believe at the very least they will offer me a new one at an incredible price.
Hold on to that fantasy  I've delt with Bushnell on more than one occasion (slow learner) and those ba$tards wouldn't warrenty $hit! The lowlifes accused me of abuse  then offered me a replacement scope at a whopping $40 less than Wholesale's price  Big whoopie doo. Bushnell's "warrenty" is a crock of $hit. Avoid Bull####nell at all cost.

Never hurts to try. I had a reticle on a legend break and Bushnell replaced it no questions asked. I just walked into Wholesale dropped off the scope and picked up the new one when it arrived.

PS I dealt with Wholesale as that was were the guy who sold it to me bought it not with Bushnell.

For some reason, this warranty appears to have changed.

I have been very pleased wit hBushnell warranties in the past... mind you my big mistake was telling them I bought this thing used... They told me, it looks like I might have a fair weather only scope.
Anyway, it might still just be a scratch.
