Mike B and Alex S flew in from Ont today for NS Prov and informed us at dinner that they are going to shoot this match in Production Div using Freedom Ventures new Tanfoglio line. That should make the match very interesting. Mike is just a machine so it will probably be 2A all the way through. It should prove interesting for Alex though. Either way it will be great to watch. I will now be bumped further to the bottom:( :( . But I am used to that :) :) Oh well it is only one match in many and a lot a fun with friends.

Hmmm.... I guess it could be worse, right? I mean, we could have Rob Leatham show up with a Production gun....

Still, there is some good here - I don't have to worry about my bum knee handing ipsc1 another President's Medal, right? He'll have to fight Mike for it ;)

:D

(I guess Mike must have misunderstood me in Kingston at the awards dinner when I said to him "Just keep shooting SA guns.... " ;) )

Hey, maybe we can get Clint to fly in too? That'd be interesting...

Mudmen

If only we could get the Mudmen reunited for the match and a few others it would be Kingston all over. And IPSC 1 will have to be on his A game with Machine Mike in the picture. Don't you love it:beerchug: :D

Maybe at first that would happen, but I was thinking that raising the bar would inspire everyone else to work that much harder and elevate collectively.

No?

I can only speak from my own experience, but I just don't really compete all that well unless I feel I'm being pushed from behind, or pulled from in front. AND of course, unless I'm having fun . And Production is just more fun.

I'm thinking the over the next few years, the smart money is going to be on the production Division if one wants to compete and not bleed from the wallet, but I also feel that many long-time competitors are going to see the benefit of getting back to the root skills of practical shooting; which is what Production Division is. You can't rely on compensators or electronic sights to cover up an under developed skill set. If you shoot well in Production, you have to be able to shoot well...period. This is certainly what is attracting me.

I think its going to get a lot more competitive in Production going forward because of what the division offers. But this should be seen as a good thing.

Sorry for the verbosity. Don't want anyone out there to think I'm crashing their party.

well,I'm here, my ammo and guns are here.... But still waiting for Tan and others to arrive.... ;)

As suspected, Mike B shooting production was a hoax, he's getting ready for the US LImited nationals.

Tanster's guns never left MOntreal, so he didn't get them until about noon today - but it's all good now.

My Tanfoglio L has become a SSA/SDA gun - Sometimes SA, Sometimes DA; on average, I need 2 trigger pulls to fire - the first one drops the hammer to half ####, the second pulls it DA to fire. If I slap the trigger hard, it seems to be function ok, but then I pull the gun off target and get mikes... That has, clearly, dropped me out of the competition. I'll get a new factory sear and sear block, hopefully that will fix the problem in time for Quebec next weekend.

Stages are fun, we're managing to run everything on a good schedule, looking forward to tomorrow.

I have never heard of anyone having these problems with the tangfolio's locally. That certainly sucks having travelled all that way,....did you bring a back up pistol??

Hey, I'm comitted to Production div, for exactly the reasons you gave. If you can handle a Glock trigger, you can shoot just about any other trigger just fine... except for ADing into the walls, your foot, the RO.... damned hair trigger!

Example: The trigger on the Beretta Storm. Most folks hate it, but I like it just fine! Feels home-style, like apple pie, and beatings!

Wow! You you touch my Open gun off in the holster then if you see a Glock as having a hair trigger. 23 oz!

Who needs a femoral artery anyway?

Well, re my problems, I think it's just a case of a broken spring/part, it's not like I've been taking it easy on my gun, haha; some of the things inside look 'off' to my untrained eye, so it might be just fatigue, without a checkup ;)

I'll have a look; I got a new sear and sear cage/block from Sean, but like I said, it might not even be anything to do with that, just time to replace some worn out parts...

update: we all sat around and commented on what a pansy maurice was for not showing up.http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/images/smilies/Banane01.gif
:dancingbanana:

after we finished shooting, we had an hour to kill while other squads finished, so we went back to the woods range to have some fun, and try alternate strategies.

note to self: time to loose more weight. I lent my belt to another shooter to try out teh SP01. it went around their waist twice.http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/images/smilies/eek.gif

Aargh. Expressed myself badly: After shooting the crap trigger on my glock, every other trigger feels like a hair trigger.

James S won Open, Mike B won Std, Cliff won Prod (I came in 3rd at just over 89%, which sucks in absolute terms, but considering my gun issues sunk EVERY field course (either directly or because I had to try strange things to work around the issues - one almost worked, except for a stupid Mike on a point-blank target), it isn't that bad... ).

Looking forward to next's years. NS Provincials have definitely joined PQ provincials and the Triangle as the match I'm not going to miss - it's always a load of fun, the people are fantastic, and the match is great. Highly recommended.

I think the summer slam in NB falls into that same category, but I just wasn't able to make it this year... ;)
