Hi all,

My name is Spencer and I'm in Halifax.
I'm new to this but very interested so I thought I would see if I can meet up with some folks here before I make any decisions on anything.

I have only fired rifles and shotguns but I am leaning toward pistols.

If anyone wants to give me advice or let me know places to go in Halifax it would be appreciated.

Welcome to CGN and welcome to the world of restricted firearms. If you have not done it yet, contact the local NSCC and arrange for your PAL and RPAL course(s).

The only place in Halifax where you can go look at handguns for sale is the Army Navy store on Agricola. I don't know if they'll even show you them if you don't have your RPAL. Perhaps/perhaps not. They'll still give you an idea what they typically have in stock and what they'll cost you.

You'll practically have to join a club to get a handgun / restricted firearm. AMA (the club I belong to - see below) is one. The NSRA is another but more expensive and not as focussed on handguns. They do shoot handgun and they have handgun ranges at Bull Meadow. You could also try a club outside of Halifax (AVVSC, MVRRC, and others within driving distance) if you have a car.

If you haven't done it yet, pop in to visit AMA's indoor range in Dartmouth on a Tuesday evening to see what we offer for handgun shooting.

Fusilier, I am waiting to hear back from NSCC on times and availability of the PAL and RPAL courses and I am going to make my way over to AMA on Tuesday evening to meet you guys.

Depending upon your willingness to travel, there are other clubs throughout the province. You may want to have a look at a few of them, too.
