Hi All,

Like a bunch of you I picked up a Aero lower on sale and a S&J LPK. This is my first build so before I do anything I can't undo I'd ask here first about how tight the trigger and hammer pins should be. From everything I've read and the countless youtube video's I've watched it looks like the pins should almost slide right in and I shouldn't need to use a hammer or anything to get them started. I've got the following questions.

Should the trigger pin by itself be able to slide into the disconnector without too much trouble? Right now if I just try to put the pin into the disconnector it goes in about 1 mm and then gets stuck.

Should the trigger pin and hammer pin be able to smoothly go into the lower receiver by hand or do they need to be hammered in? I want your opinions first before I try to drive them in with a hammer as they don't really fit into the Aero lower and I'd rather not break anything.

Thanks

Both pins should be able to go almost, if not all the way in by hand. That has been my experience so far when putting together both my Aero & CC lower.

They should go in by hand. On a regular setup the trigger pin is retained by the hammer spring legs and the hammer pin is retained by the J spring in the hammer.

So that's interesting. I took out the hammer out of my Norinco and that hammer pin slids perfectly into the Aero Lower, and the S&J pin slides fine into the Norinco Lower but not the Aero Lower. I also found that the norinco pin slides fine into the disconnector hole without needing to be forced. So it looks like the S&J pins aren't quite to spec. I could just swap the pins around, but I really don't think I should need to especially on a new build.

this is the 4th client that has has issues with the cheap aero lowers, we have sold 1000,s of our lower parts kits, other then Cadex which are known to be tight and dlask which are know to have overly thick anodizing, we have had no issue.
any one here using our LPK not on the batch of cheap over stocked aero lowers that just hit the CDN market?
we are away for an event untill next monday, so reply may be slow.

How about that fit on the disconnector? How is that related to the "cheap" lower.

its not, but there are know issues .

my shop guys have just pulled soem of the pins from the last batch, it looks like we are 1.5/2 thou over spec of some of the pins, this is why they are tight on some lowers, the discon it right on spec, +/- 0 so being 1/5 tho over hives no room

anyone that is having an issue with the trigger pins please email us monday and put in the title your order # and trigger pins, and we will send you new ones

we have about 60 sets on hand that have been checked and are good to go.
send email to sales@sjhardware.com

Simon,

Thanks for taking the time to have a look at the pins. The pins being overspec explain why they wouldn't fit into the disconnector. If the new pins fit smoothly into the disconnector without needing to be forced and don't fit into the Aero lower at least then I know for sure I've got an issue with the aero lower. Look forward to hearing from you on Monday when you're back from your show.

So in other words, the problem is not the 'cheap' lowers.

Lol yer sort of. It looks like the issue is with our pins.
That said google that and you see a bunch of people having issues with aero lowers at the moment.
But as I said that batch of pins are a little oversized.
So if anyone needs them just email us
