Handled one of these today at a local gun shop. Looks like a well made rifle. Wood stock, steel receiver, smooth bolt, fibre optic sights, 17 round tube fed....and a 25 yard 10 shot target attached that was pretty good. Anyone have any feedback on this rifle?

Ok, so my curiosity got the better of me and I bought the hammerli 22sa that was at a local gunshop. Basically, I liked the all steel and wood build, the smooth bolt with hold open feature, the fiber optic sights, the oversized bolt knob, and the 17 round tube capacity. Here's a few pics of the rifle:

Pull the bolt back and lift it to lock it back:

Also, on the tag with the rifle, is included a test group (10 shots @ 25 yard I think) as well as the weight of the trigger. Not something you see very often. Here's a pic of the tag:

The trigger weight listed at 2.4 lbs I believe to be correct. Its a fairly light trigger. It is however, really long.
I took it up to the range to try it out and I must have put about 300 rounds through it from about 10 different brands of ammo and I didn't have a single failure. I was able to match the accuracy on the tag at 25 yards. At 50 yards it was pretty good, would put 3-4 in a tight cloverleaf and then the other(s) would open up to about .75". I attribute this to the single action screw and that the action is not terribly tight in the stock so I assume that those groups would tighten up even more with a bedding job. It was pretty windy that day too. Still though, that's pretty decent accuracy for a semi auto.
So far I think its a good little rifle. Nice build quality, smooth action, its extremely reliable, very good accuracy and light trigger (although long) from factory. Oh and for you lefty's, the safety is at the rear of the receiver.
