Okay here is my deal. I am new to the forum and new to the sport of handgun target shooting. I just bought a Beretta 92 and am interested in recreational target shooting only at present. I also am a heck of a busy guy with three careers and three kids under two. Is there such a world where one can go and target shoot handguns when one would like night or day winter and summer? I understand there is probation and trust building etc. but is there such a club?

It could be in Vaughan, Newmarket area or up around Owen Sound.

Also referring to these other range safety courses one requires when joining. Is this a long process generally or is it something one could get through fairly easily?

I look at youtube and see Americans firing handguns in their backyard and become very envious.
 
I'm taking a range safety course this week .4 hours includes some actual firing. As far as ranges that have extended hours, you need to check around. Targetshooting.ca has a list of clubs in Ontario (actually all of canada). I understand that some of the clubs offer anytime access to the range after a probationary period. Have fun!
 
I am a member in Kincardine and managed to get through their process fairly quickly. You will have to do a handgun safety course which took a couple of hours one night. You will then need to do the range rules qualification and shoot in front of the range safety officer a few times. After that you will get a key and the range will apply for your ATT. Took me 2 months to get everything done and ATT in hand. Also I have a busy schedule too and the range is open to members on a come and go basis. They do have times that you can't shoot but that would be early in the morning and late at night.

I am with Barrie Gun Club, amazing outdoor and indoor range. The indoor range is open 24 hours 7 days a week. There are 90 days probationary period after the range safety course and you must complete at least 8 handgun shooting during that 90 days to be a full member.
