Handgun sales are still flying high!

Holy crap! I am really shocked. After 4 weeks handguns are still hot. I visit (and buy) from 2 store Al Simmons (Hamilton) and Colby(Waterloo) and I keep hearing the same thing, we can't keep up with the handgun sales. I have also sold about 8 handguns over the last few weeks. So, is there really more shooters or is the sales going to newbes? Tonight, I bought a 44 Anaconda, stainless at the store. Really good price. This would indicate alot of newbie's are just buying anything and missing the sweet guns. Anyone seeing this?
 
I think the Liberal handgun ban proposal had an unintended side-effect of informing the public that you are actually allowed to legally own handguns in this country. I'm willing to bet that before the announcement, the majority of non-shooters assumed that handguns were already banned.

Living in Toronto and not knowing anyone who was into guns, I used to be completely ignorant of the firearm laws. The thought of getting a gun license first occurred to me when I saw those government TV ads informing people that they had to register their long guns by 2003.
 
Same hear.... people discussing Bill C68 and the proposed registry is what prompted my interest in guns. As soon as I found out that Canadians could actually legally own handguns (I thought it was illegal before) I decided I would buy one, just because I could.

This is a very good point. All during the election all we heard was that handguns are already banned in Canada. I even had people ask me why I owned handguns if they were banned.

I got scared by the handgun ban and then went out to get my license to own hand guns and join the conservative party. I was going to get my license at some point it just pushed me over the edge. Now I have to wait, the CFC received my application January 16th so I hope I will get my license by the end of Febtober :rolleyes: .
 
Man, I grew up with Canadian Tire Catalogs arriving at our home full of rifles and shotguns.

I used to beg my dad to buy one but he was never into guns; as soon as I hit 18 I was all over my FAC :D

Unfortunately Bill C-68 came shortly after and I was "warned" that I should stay away from all the cool guns I could have bought and got 12(*) status with... ARRRRHHH!!!!

Still upset about that.
 
I am new into handgun. Always love rifles, love to clean them shoot them and play with all what is bolt action. In December, I told my wife that around June/July I will buy a handgun or two. Of course why do you need it, she said? You already have more long guns then you need. I laughed, and said, honey I love guns, and as young boy growing up with dad in the army and playing with his sidearm P-64 or sometimes when they were on watch, I was allowed to touch little sub-machine PM-63. He took me to work and holy macro, many times I could handle AK-47 or old PPSh. It was fun to see all this and memory coming back, specially now when he is gone.
And guess what P. Martin help me too, with his announcment and what he said about handguns, I decided to go and buy couple. I end-up with three, SW 686, Springfield 1911A1 and XD9. I also have one friend who got one revolver.
So, I think that P. Martin did big favor to gun community bringing lots of young people into shooting handguns or collecting them.

Today I am going to watch my first IPSC match and hopefully make some friends.
 
Add me to the list. I just recently upgraded my license to Restricted and have started looking for my first handgun. I have always enjoyed target shooting with the couple of rifles I own and decided I would like to join a range and get into handgun shooting. Now the problem is narrowing it down to what type of gun to choose?
 
i took the test when it went from fac/to pal. i never got or thought i would want a handgun. got a cowboy six in nov. bought a 1911,the day PAUL said he would ban all hanguns. bought 2 more in jan. last night bought another. wish i could get a 12.6. just to have it. not done yet.
 
What we need to do is keep the interest up.

Don't just buy a gun. Join a club and shoot. Check out the competitions, and see if they interest you. Take a sympathetic friend to your new club and show him/her the ropes. Better yet, take an unsympathetic friend and show him how much fun it can be. Bring the family and let them see how much this means to you.

Not only do we need more bodies in the fight, we need a wider body of people who recognize that shooting as a sport and hobby is no different than golfing.
 
I guess I should have added that I won't be buying anymore guns for a while.

During the election I donated as much as I could to the CPC party, the RFOCBC and NFA. Also in the last 2 weeks I've installed all new carpet in my house and purchased new living room furniture because I promised my wife that I would stop buying more guns for a while and fix the house up instead.

Now I'm broke for a few months.

I want to purchase a s/s S&W model 60, 5 shot cylinder, 5" barreled 357 mag, a s/s Puma Legacy Sports M92 454 Casull rifle and a new handgun scope for my SRH 454 Casull.

Well at least I get to enjoy the guns that I own now and dream about when I get to finally purchase the next things I want.
 
I've already started reloading with the father in law. I live in an apartment so I have no room to set up shop. I go over to his house when we have days off together.The problem we are finding is getting enough time to do 1000 rounds or more. Between the two of us we shot 300 rounds on friday alone. I get a decent deal on american eagles and luckily thats what my norc likes to eat.

I have converted 6 people in the last year. Had three guys at work aposed to handguns, the usual crap. They had .22's as kids and shot lots of gophers. So I pulled a quick one on them. I told them that I was going gopher shooting last spring down to my uncles farm and I needed 3 more guys to go with me (they have lots and need them cleaned out). So I then said I am going out to the range to sight in my .22 on saturday and they should come out also to sight in and make sure everything is working because it is a 6 hour drive into the middle of no-where. Well I took out all my handguns and my ar-15's and sks and shotgun, I was loaded for bear. I had it all under a blanket in the back of the suburban and when we got there I set them up on the 25/50 yard range and waited till they started plinking with the .22's. While they were all looking down range and shooting I moved over to the 25 yard side of the range and started shooting the m29. Well all three heads popped up from there .22's and looked to see what was making all the noise. Started them off with a S&W 10 shooting really mild .38 specials. Then graduated to M28 shooting .357's then 1911 and they were just chomping on the bit to try the m29 shooting full power 44 mag. Needless to say they have all taken there courses and have bought several handguns. One guy has bought an sks and a AR and is really into it now. Lots of fun.
