Handguns in Ottawa?

Gunco on Colonnade road, Sports Action on St. Laurent (though my humble opinion is that their prices are out to lunch in many cases), and if you're willing to trek to Brockville, then Gun Mart is good.

Gunco for used guns, Sports Action for new if you don't want to drive 100km, and the odd used piece, and Gun Mart for a decent used selection AND better prices on new stuff. I'm not sure if Jason at Gunco really gets into special ordering new handguns, but his prices are generally quite reasonable on the used hardware.

FWIW, I looked at a 75th anniversary Browning Hi-Power in 9mm with adjustable sights and wood grips at Sports Action, it was in stock and I believe they were looking for $1100+tax, and about a month later when my father decided to buy one, he got it (same gun and options) at Gun Mart in Brockville for $879 or something. Only difference was he had to spend a Saturday morning and a few bucks in gas to drive out there to get it, and he had to special order it as they didn't stock that particular piece. I believe it took about a week to show up.

Thanks Adam,

I am on the far west side of Ottawa so Brockville is not very far for me.

I like the CZ and or GLock

I saw a G17 at Sports Action once too. Don't remember the price off hand.

It's too bad EM Precision on the Quebec side disappeared; he was a small store mostly selling tactical gear and other equipment but when he had used stuff it was well priced. I bought my first impulse handgun there, an unfired H&R 999 .22LR revolver for $300 taxes included that has now seen many range trips and friends introduced to handgun shooting.

I'm sure if you google the names of the stores I mentioned you can get their phone numbers etc. and call them. Perhaps you'll luck into a used CZ or Glock at Gunco. ;)

Happy hunting,
Adam

to be honest the best prices I've seen are online from non-local sellers and the lead times for delivery are always pretty reasonable. check some of the site sponsors webshops, i bet you'll find a way better deal...

If your willing to drive to Brockville, drive to Harrowsmith and talk to Ryan from SFRC. Great selection, great service. Too bad I've only dealt with them online.

We're sorrily lacking for available "hands on" handguns in Ottawa for sure. I ended up in Montreal (on vacation no less) and spent quite a bit of time one afternoon in Dante before I had a PAL even. Nice enough folks in person. Depending on your schedule and travel availability, we're pretty much relegated to Internet ordering. (ymmv)
