I intend to start handloading for the T/C Encore Pro Hunter 375 H&H with a 28" barrel and bullet weight of 270 gr. The 375 H&H was originally designed for barrels of 28" but of course without the modern powders available today.

I'm looking for any useful information about what modern powder to use today to get the maximum performance of this combination. I was out at the range the other day and ended up firing over 30 rounds (approx $75 worth) and can't afford this very often. I'm all setup to handload this caliber so any suggestion about the powder would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

"...he maximum performance..." Don't think I'd want to get too hot in a light weight rifle. Like Al-Sway says, reloading has nothing to do with the barrel length.

I use Reloader 15 with Nosler acubonds, Barnes, and Hornady 270gr pills. I get 1 inch - 1.5 inches at 100 yards. I shoot a CZ550 with about a 25inch barrel. With todays powders the longer the barrel the faster the MV, the quicker the bullets get to the target, and are less subject to cross wind deflection.
