While shooting today I experienced my first hangfire.I heard the click of the fireing pin hitting the primer then a second or two later it fired. It's my understand that this is a fairly unusual occurance with shotshells?I was shooting a semi auto and it ejected the empty casing normally. However oddly there was a lot of residue on the outside of the casing indicating there was some back pressure.Any ideas as to why?Was the primer just enough to force the load out causing a partial blockage before the main charge went off? The round was a Federal 12 pellet 00 buck.
