Happy Canada Day

Smellie, The monarchy cost Canada some pretty penny because we cover the cost of the royal family visits when they come over (security, transport, accommodations, etc). 40 millions in the last 5 years if I remember correctly. I'm not anti-monarchy and I even like the symbol they represent but I think they should pay most of their expenses.
 
If we are going to charge our own Queen for the expenses associated with her visits, then we should do likewise with the American President, the President of France, the German Chancellor, Chinese, Chilean, Zambian, Zimbabwean, Cuban and Russian bigwigs and all the rest.

One thing for sure: there would be no more official visits to Canada.

And we would be the laughing-stock of the civilised world.

I think we should leave it right where it is. Besides, I paid $1.27 of that and it was worth it; if you're too cheap, I'll pay your $1.27 as well.
