Hard barrel or bad reamer?

Post a pic of the reamer.

It may have not been sharpened properly. Not enough material under the cutting edge maybe.

if that was the case shouldnt he have not been able to finish the chamber nicely?

BUE, barrel steel. I went through pains trying to figure this out. Nothing works on a bad cutting barrel but they can shoot.

I am betting on a hard spot in the barrel. You have chambered enough barrels, so I am sure your setup and speed/feed were fine. I never had any trouble with the Manson reamers (just guessing that's what your using). But believe me I have faught with some ptg stuff.

Yeah i guess if it happens again I will have to really start looking at things but maybe it was just a hard spot. Manson reamers have never caused me a lick of grief. I won't buy ptg any more haha

My reamer maker is JGS. I find that every barrel cuts a little differently, probably due to different heat treating. I have had massive chatter problems with Manson in the larger sizes, small ones cut okay. I do have a Rockwell machine so I should start testing to see if there is any measurable difference in these.
