Is there an affordable hard case that can fit a Kentucky LR? Don't want a soft case but don't need a shippeable case either. Need to store my cleaning rods and accessories. Right now I am using an old Woodstream fishing rod case but one latch is broken...

I’d personally just mark a case I don’t know of any gun case that can handle a lot of these extremely long guns even my martini barely fits in a shotgun soft case.
The only cases long enough for a 42" or 44" long rifle that I have encountered have been custom made of aluminum and therefore expensive. I got my soft cases from The Log Cabin Shop. I have never seen a hard-shell case long enough but maybe there would be something in an industrial supplies shop for long tools...
For shipping a couple of rifles I made up boxes using 1" X 3" strapping and beaverboard: maybe you could fabricate something like that with 1/4" plywood and a piano hinge without getting too heavy or expensive. Just a thought.
