who does hard chroming in canada? i'll be lookin to get a 1911 done up with the slides and frame flats polished up real shiney, seen some work done in the states, but who does it in canada,

is the hard chroming u get straight from sti any good? anybody have any pics of it?

If you really must have hard chroming check into businesses in your area that rebuild hydraulic cylinders like those used on Cat loaders, farm equipment etc. Those piston rods are usually hard chromed for longer wear and less seal damage so they may be able to help you out or suggest someone that can do the work.

Armco used to but can't get the chemicals in.

thanks, are the chemicals banned or whats the deal, do you know which chemicals they are?

I think Armco did Electroless nickel. Google Caswell, they have a Canadian office and sell kits and chemicals for electroless nickel and several other finishes.

Here's a photo of my recently acquired STI Eagle with factory hard chrome finish:

The flats of the slide are polished and the rest is matt. The finish, IMHO, is gorgeous! I can't speak to durability yet (I've only had it a week) but from what I've been told it's virtually indestructable. Time (and usage) will tell....
