I just acquired one of these. I believe it's a model 1905 . It has the removable , flip lock , hinge pin for disassembly. It is missing the firing pin , but , I see Numrich has them in stock at a reasonable price.
The barrel is stamped on the top with a " .44 " .
I tried a 2 & 1/2 " 410 shell , just to see if it would go all the way in , and it did.
I then tried a 3" .410 shell , and it would not go all the way in.
I know these were made for the .44 XL shot shells , and the receiver is very tiny , and too light for modern shells. I just wanted to check for chamber size. I also took a cast of the chamber .
Anybody else have one of these?
I'm thinking of making up some black powder ammo for it , using 44-40 brass , large pistol primers , and some Speer .44 cal , plastic shot capsules , with #9 shot.
It's not a powerful weapon . They were made as garden guns , and maybe for wild west shows. LOL
It's just a cute little orphan that followed me home.
Anybody else have one ? Got a pet load recipe? I may not even bother shooting this. It's a fine little piece of pre .410 history . I know it's not very valuable , but I was happy it followed me home.

That's awesome. Those little center-fire "shot"guns are fun I have a shooting buddy that collects them though he doesn't have a 44. Loaded with 12 shot they work great in old bins and granaries for pigeons.
