My cousin needs to re-verify this pistol in order to transfer this to me. Its .22 rimfire. I need to measure the barrel length as part of verification but where would the barrel start and the chamber end to measure. Their is 3 lengths of barrels manufactured, 7",8" and a 10". I measure roughly 200mm(8") of just exposed barrel. Picture is not of pistol in discussion but very close in detail. (lots of variations)
Also my cousin has misplaced reg slip but has old green one. He had it when first initializing transfer last year but I was in car accident and was in wheel chair for few months and transfer time ran out.What needs to happen to get the newer registration#( he paranoid about calling about it)

Looks like a top break single shot, you could probably open the gun and place a ruler along the barrel starting at the breach include a Loonie for scale...take a picture and send it in to the CFO.
 
Barrel length is the continuous length of barrel material, measured from the breech face (where the firing pin is) to the muzzle. For a revolver, the chambers/cylinder do not count, and therefore the continuous length of barrel material from the breech to the muzzle is measured. Barrel length cannot include any attachments, regardless of how the attachments are affixed. If you say there is 8" of barrel "exposed", I can guess that the barrel is 10" long.
 
Thanks for the replies. It is rifled pretty much from the breech to the end of the barrel. It must be 10". Next time I am at his house I will remeasure to confirm.
 
Run a cleaning rod into the barrel to the breech face, then mark and measure the rod.
The old green slip should have the barrel length on it. That'll do.
