Has 7.62x39 surplus dried up

Lots in Calgary, CT, Cabelas, everywhere.

But I did hear from a buddy that sells ammo, that they are slowly being squeezed by what's let into Canada and shipping companies.

Buy it cheap, stack it deep!

I still see a lot of it around but at a premium price (most ammo is at this time but there’s deals to be had if you look hard enough). Depending where you’re at, it comes up in the EE quite often.

Lots of sponsors have it in bulk by the crate 1400-1500 or can usually 700 rounds but it is nowhere near as cheap as it was and there are fewer couriers to ship with. As well in the last few years shipping costs have increased noticeably. I agree with randyhub if you see it buy it!
Sample from Bullseye in London On $100 for 300 Chinese rounds in a ammo can plus taxes etc but not bad at a base price of 30 cents a round!

Marstar $440 for 1440 rounds free shipping to most places, perhaps not including where the trees don’t grow (but that could be almost any province or territory lol!).

That is actually 33.3 cents a round, but still not bad...plus tax
