Has anyone refinished the stocks on a T81 yet? I’m thinking about stripping the red off and doing a boiled linseed finish.. curious if I’m braking new ground here lol

I thought of doing the same thing because that red paint is slippery and scratches off easy.

I'm thinking I'd rather just make new furniture though, I doubt that wood underneath is very high quality.

TI said the blond woods are made of beech, it does look like it to me.

but the red wood doesnt so you could be right.

The red is pretty terrible.. lol
I’m thinking a oiled finish would make any bumps
And bruises from regular use look pretty cool lol

the sks uses catalpa soft wood and i suspect thats whats under the red wood.

i refinished using varathane pecan gloss (thats the closes color that HD had) on me sks and it turned out pretty good. i was too lazy to sand it more than once, between two applications.
