Recovered 3 of four cases, no pressure signs, operation seemed fine not violent at all. Brass was previously fired twice and upon further inspection still look to be fine.
Comparatively this cartridge with the above parameters using Reloader 15 at 37.0 grains was shooting ~2375fps.
One of the powders of choice for 140 gr bullets is reloder 22 , the the 6.5x55. I was loading Lapua cases for my Steyr Prohunter and using 46,47,48gr no pressure signs, some fellows go up to 50gr. FS
All powder is expensive for me up north and I don't shoot this rifle a lot so it's not that bad. Yes the powder is fast-ish for a 6.5x55 however I am working on the assumption that the charge needs to burn before the gas port else the action is worked quite violently. I have used H4895 also and I tore a case head off one of the cartridges, can post a pic if folks want.
I also use RL-22 in the 6.5x55 (also tested to 50gr without incident) but I reserve this for the modern bolt actions.
pls do - I am just getting into reloading and I too will be doing 6.5 x 55. I would be interested in learning from others experiences rather than learning the hard way!
