I noticed tactical imports has brought these in for us. Anyone own or have experience with SAF or the SAF mini? Just wanted to hear feedback. In interested but I have no way of handling one. They sound attractive though. Sig copy in a mp5 package.

Hey copeland,

I cant believe you only got one reply. Are there no other SAF owners out there ?

I bought the regular SAF last November and have run about 2500 rnds through it.

This is a really nice little gun, perfect for IDPA/tactical style shooting matches. Mine's decked out with a rail on top, Hensold rsa dot [allso fro T.I.] and a surefire x300 mouted with an off set rail mount.
I have used it in a couple of matches so far. I know its only 5 rnds, but with mags that couple together, it allows for very fast mag changes giving you an all most seamless 10 rnd string.
The SAF is very accurate, solid and well built.
It's allso quite unique, and gets a lot of attention at the range.

I chose this model over the mini or the saf 200[?] because the 8" barrel will give you better range than the mini and it isnt covered with a bunch of plastic like the 200. I like steel.

Buy one :)

cheers...

Hey 4tkal, have the magazines been reliable? I've read that the plastic mags are junk and have a problem with breaking feed lips and cracks in the body if they aren't babied.

Hey alvais,
When I first saw these mags I was worried that they looked fragile and thin, but this plastic is proving to be pretty tough. I have 6 mags coupled in pairs. They have been dropped and abused a little and so far so good.
I dont intensionally drop them as there are plastic, but like I say, tougher than they look.
I had a few failure to eject/extract s a while back and I managed to identify the proplem as being one of the mags wasnt feeding too smooth. I took them all apart, cleaned them an made sure the followers were moving smoothly. That was it fixed.
She runs smooth now.
Its a fun gun.
Cheers...

Thanks for the info! Now I want one... haha.

I had two SAF's. Sold one. Will be picking up the MINI SAF shortly. Great fun and suprisingly accurate. The mags are tuff enough for range use but they *will* wear on the feed lips.

I wonder how the MPX will compare to the SAF, if the MPX is ever released. But damn i want one especially the one with the mp5 stock.
