Has anyone put an ACOG on their M14?

I was thinking of doing this. I would buy an ARMS 18 low profile mount and an ACOG calibrated for 7.62. Has anyone tried this? My only concerne is that the sight might be too high. Any thoughts?

I've never been a fan of BDC reticles (Like what's in the ACOG) but it's reported to be a good scope. There's no reason whatsoever it shouldn't work well on an M14. Now, as far as the scope being too high, depending on what stock you have installed, there are options out there for you. You could also pick up a raised cheek piece, or improvise one of your own.

I tried this exact thing and I ran into issued with the clamps on the standard ACOG mount getting in the way of the ejected brass. It was a Failure to Eject Trainwreck. You'll need a higher scope mount than an ARMS18 and maybe even a different ACOG mount.

I have seen it and it does not work well. First off a regular Acog only has 1.5" eye relief so most scope mounts do not get the optic back far enough for it to work. SEI makes a special Acog scope mount to get it far enough back. A TA11 Acog will work better on an M14 because it has way more eye relief.
Now there's still the optic height problem, it sits way high. Unless it is on a Sage EBR or a Troy forget it. With a regular GI stock it is atrocious.

I have a BM59 folding stock on my M1A and it is a poor stock for trying to get a good cheek weld because the wire folding stock is way lower than a USGI stock. Is there a good optical compromise?

GDI made a awesome Acog mount for the M1A.

I put this same mount on my M1A after having brass ejection problems with the ARMS18. This mount ( TA70) works fantastic with the TA11E ACOG. Holes are predrilled for mounting and no adaptor needed ( which allows it to mount lower). Proper eye relief is attained and good cheek weld with a riser pad. An awesome combination and no ejection issues.

I love this photo!

For people who either like cheek riser's or have realy big heads.

And here are some use photo's. So if it's good enough for them then I don't see what could be wrong. That is unless the mount is too high.

I'd go Arms18 mount with a good 1-4X mounted as low as possible, reg usgi stock with small cheek pad or riser.

With a "high" rear butt stock adapter on Blackfeather and a CASM scope mount, the ACOG would set up superbly as the CASM sets up further back into the rear of the M14 sight pocket: the BF high butt stock adapter will be 3/4" in. higher as well. The current butt stock adapter that Blackfeather ships with is considered our low adapter (suitable for iron sights but it is slightly higher than the standard M14 stock comb) so you will still get better height with a CASM/Blackfeather as it ships out of the box. However, another option is a Magpul CTR mil-spec. butt stock and a cheek riser running CASM/with low butt stock adapter on Blackfeather...I think you would find that a very weildable/worthy setup with just the right eye releif/height for an ACOG. A couple of different ways to get you to just the right spot.

Is the casm suitable for use with a holograhic reflex sight as well? I dont think there is any eye relief issues but it might be too high for a factory stock. Wdyt?

A bit off topic, but has anyone had anyb experience with a Millet brand scope mount on their norc? They look similar to a promag and arms 18.
