Has anyone seen a M+P 45 for sale with the thumb safety?

Nope...I read that Canada will not get the thumb safety models. But that S&W will sell a kit in the future for thumb safety. Maybe you can goto that M&P forum and see if you can buy one there.

Why do you want a thumb safety? It's not a 1911..

M&P doesn't need it; the gun has a firing pin safety so the gun won't fire unless you pull the trigger. And since we live in Canada you can't carry it so need for safety IMO...just my 2 cents

I am interested in a wilderness carry gun (with a wilderness ATC) for use on my registered trapline in northern BC. I would have a 10mm Glock but they don't have a safety available either....I HAVE carried a 'non thumb safety' DAO 5 days a week for about 12 years now....if I was going to carry an auto in the bush where I could get tossed around by a bear or trip and fall I would want a model with a thumb safety...Smith and Wesson offers a thumb safety as an option....if they don't make one available to me I guess I'll have to look at something else....

I hear the CPFO in BC has now decided autos are not "suitable" for wilderness carry ATC's now so I may have to go with a revolver anway....
