Has anyone shot the 7mmUltra Mag to 1760yds, and what is the expected barrel life?

I built a 7mmUltra Mag. Back in 1998-ish. And know this barrel to be eroding. I have shot maybe 200-300 rounds out of it. Has anyone had any luck using this calibre at extream ranges? Just curious what it would do with the 180gr. Berger VLD.

Well, I've never done either but a 180gn Berger VLD flying at 3200fps+ can't be a bad thing...especially at a mile..

I have a 7 in just a mag (custom built be Ted Gaillard and Lyle Linkitas). It is punched to run 180 bergers. I have tested this at 1319 yards and lets just say... the steel does not like it. I am pushing them at 2961 average out of 10 rounds and there is still lots of juice to go. The 14x21 inch, 1/2 inch steel plate swings about 30-35 degress once hit. Exbal is telling me that with that velocity and BC I will be subsonic at about 2100 yards(just a little over). So... a 7 ultra should do it with no problem.
