Has anyone tried 22lr case jacket swaging?

I saw that a while back, and have really been tempted. However, the kit goes for around $600. You need to swage a LOT of bullets to make it pay for itself. Further, it's a bad idea for a 22-250 - the jackets are so thin they're limited to ~3200 fps, otherwise they blow up in mid-flight.

the website also says that you don't need to hit your target at 4000 fps to have an explosive reaction. The reduced speed will increase barrel life correct?

I'm still seriously thinking about it

terminal effects should be explosive, and barrel life should be longer, yes. But the trajectory will not be as flat.

Really, these bullets are not a good match to the 22-250's capabilities. It's more suitable to the 223 and smaller. It should be ideal for the Hornet

The kits work fairley well, there is however a problem with brass consistancey. Weigh some cases of differant brands and you will see what I mean. With that said,I have never used 22 cases for jackets,it's alot easier to buy prepared jackets and alot more accuracy will be realized at any speed due to the consistancey and quality of a commercial jacket
if you do get a kit ,enjoy!!!!! And welcome to the world of swaging

I believe that's how the Speer bullet company got started in wartime, swaging brass casings into bullet jackets. Neato.
