I just got a set of brand new RCBS dies in 7X57 and 100 brass. The headstamp says ppc 7mm mauser. Well without brushing a bit of lube on the inside of the case I can't size these things for the life of me. So I took the die apart and cleaned it ansd everything looks good. I set it up again and I still can't size these things ?

Does anyone know where I can get some Winchester brass in 7X57 ? I have never had this problem before but I have only used Winchester brass.

Well - I can only comment on PPC brass in 6.5... It was very hard to work. If memory serves, the wall thickness of the brass in the neck and shoulder area seemed to be the culprit. I stopped using PPC years ago...

This I suspected. There are some that won't even budge when meating the die. I bought it at Del Selin's and you would think the guy selling it would have warned me ?? $60 per 100.....down the s**tter unless I can figure something out

7 x 57 brass

I bought some new 7 x 57 brass (Remington, as I recall) at Wholesale Sports in Lethbridge, AB, a few weeks ago. No doubt, Jerry at Mystic Precision (site sponsor) could source some for you.

If it is 7x57 brass, and you are using a proper lube, you should be able to size them. Just what doesn't work - they won't go in the die at all, or they won't work in your rifle chamber once you have sized them?
I have used this type of brass before and the biggest problem that I had was that the standard shell holder wouldn't fit, as the groove wasn't the proper dimensions for the shell holder.

I believe the shellholder is fine. The brass will not go into the die at all. I think, as has been suggested to me, that providing there are case dents I am not going to resize them. I will load them up and shoot them first. Maybe that will help ? I have sent out a few emails to different stores about getting some brass. No luck yet, just two that said they didn't have any in that caliber.

Hmmm - The other problem that people encounter with the PP brass is a flash hole that was too small ie the decapping pin would bind. For the 6.5 brass that I had, the neck material was very thick, actually causing loaded cartridges to be tight at the neck of the chamber.

Imperial Sizing Die wax is the best lube I have used. Might make a difference.
If it comes to it, 7x57 brass is easy enough to make. Neck expand 6mm Remington, for example, or trim, expand, fl size .270.

I would say the decapping pin doesn't make it past the taper. It seems the neck is what is tight.

I still can't find Winchester brass anywhere.....:(

Make sure your die is set up properly ie the decapping pin location relative to the case mouth. If the pin has slipped, it'll give you grief - see the die instructions. Lee dies are notorious for this, as they have a friction collet....

The instruction state that the pin should extend 3/8" out the bottom and I am exactly that. The rod? of the reloader should touch the base of the die and it does. I re-read the instructions as it has been a while but everything looks good.

It has to be the brass....
