Has this revolver been rebored?

The bore slug for my Chamelot Delvigne turned out to be .454" groove-to-groove, which seems rather large. The seller said the cylinder had been converted for .455 webley, so I'm wondering if he might have recut the rifling as well.... the bore does look suspiciously pristine for 145 years. I tested out some .452" bullets from jethunter and they were definitely too small. Would the heavy hollow-base webley bullets be suitable for this type of revolver? I know the original 11mm bullets weighed only 190 grains.

The 1873/4 French revolvers used a heeled bullet approximately the same size as a 455
So all they needed to do was bore out the cylinder.

Chasing the rifling would be a bit of a trick and I doubt that has been done but it's possible. The chamber change is just a matter of running a reamer into each chamber

It's only a few thou oversized and I suspect the hollow base would work pretty well. Lee makes a mold for the Ruger Old Army that casts a .457" slightly heeled bullet at 220gr that could work for that bore too.
 
If you have trouble finding proper sized slugs for your revolver, powder coating those .452 will cure the issue for you...bumps them up to fit tight & alleviates leading the barrel all at the same time. Lots of info in the cast bullet part of the forum.
 
Powder coating won’t hurt your barrel. The old style 45 Colt mould is 0.454 but 250 grs. Using black powder or equivalent loads I can see any reason you can’t use a heavier bullet. I have the Lyman and RCBS versions of that mould which I use in my 455 Webley.

That depends on the throats in the cylinders. The recommended throat diameter for 45 Colt cylinders is .452 in.

OP, whoever did, they needed to open up the throats accordingly.
 
The heavy "hollow base" bullets would be perfect for this revolver. The hollow skirts would obturate into the grooves for proper fit.
