So my buddy shows up today with his new Escort Tactical. He has a box of Federal Top Gun and 4 out of 10 shells do not go off with light primer strikes. I try the duds in one of my guns and they fire. So I grab a handful of Winchester shells and he tries them 2 of 5 dont fire with light primer strikes. The shells that do go off have normal looking primer strikes. The shotgun was unfired till today. Is this a known problem with the Escort. I told him to take it back and demand a replacement and not to settle for having it fixed under warranty.

Take the gun apart and clean the bolt and trigger group out with brake cleaner/gun scrubber. Then lightly oil pivot points, plungers and all other moving parts including a drop or 2 of oil on the firing pin/ firing pin spring. Re-assemble gun and try again. If the light primer strikes continue, the gun has a weak hammer spring or possibly an out of spec firing pin (too short).

I have one and so does my ex and my best mate...well over 20,000 rounds between the three, no issues.
Give it a GOOD cleaning and a once over and try again. If not go exchange it, these are great shotguns, well priced and never rust out on you in hours unlike the modern Remingtons!!!

Demanding things will get you booted out of a store fast and you will look like a jack ass. Explain the issue and I am sure they will take care of it.
