Have a 32" 1:9 stainless .257" Krieger, what would you do with it?

32 inches probably requires at least an inch removed from the muzzle. What is the muzzle diameter? If it is over .700" it will be a very front end heavy rifle.

That barrel can be turned with no problems.

.257 Weatherby is my recommendation for extreme velocities with reasonable barrel life and on a Number One 28 inches would be excellent.

Dennis was actually going to bug you and see if you'd be available for the work, it's a straight cylinder blank at present.

He did an excellent job turning my hunting partner's Kreiger down to Douglas #3 profile, which is a fantastic profile imo.

The .25-.300 WM is also an excellent choice. Read up on it and you will likely be impressed

I would go with the weatherby as well, built as long as you can make it. I've got one done with a 30" benchmark and I love it, I've gotten 3600 with 115 ballistic tips.

If you want a screamer then the Bee... but the Improved Roberts is a nice one, blow out the brass with no other changes. Also, do you really want to climb with a 32" wand whipping around on your back? I'm betting that it wouldn't get out to the mountains as much as a 26" barrelled rifle... and that is how I would go even having to give up a little for the convenience... my 2 coppers...

He could always compensate for the length of the barrel with a 10 3/4" LOP and a barrel band mounted 3" from the muzzle so the rifle would ride low when slung over his shoulder.

I had a similar predicament with almost the same barrel. Since I already have several blisteringly fast shooters, I decided on something unusual. It's now chambered in .25-08 improved, also known as 25 humdinger. It's not a barrel burner by any stretch, but I can easily get .25-06 ballistics out of it in a short action, and it kills deer dead. I think if I had another barrel, I'd build a Weatherby. That's my plan for my next project.

If you weren't doing the bee, I would have suggested the STW, a long barrelled quarter bore STW with the proper throat would be an incredible range rifle.
