have a issue with a new savage model 10 fcp-k 308 (cant sight in)

Pardon my ignorance guys, I am just getting into using scopes and you say bushnell 3200, 10x. I have looked a bit and found some bushnell but so far none say 10x Looking at irunguns lots of nice bushnells but none say 10x. Can you school me a bit or tell me where I can get info on scopes in general and the lingo used? Sorry to interrupt the thread but I am also looking to get the 10 fcp-k or similar. Cheers and thanks!

-Get a nice sand bag rest.
-Borrow a scope that is true and tested to be accurate from a very kind freind.
-mount the scope correctly following the correct torques for the mounts Etc etc
-buy A few good boxes of .308 ammo, no more
-zero your rifle at 100 yards. Ignore your groupings just try to get the mean point of aim the same for now.
-experiment with the few types of ammo you have.
-take your time
-ask someone else to have a try an see if the results you get are roughly the same

This will give you a large conclusion as to what could be happening.

I have a feeling it will be a scope issue. But like someone mentioned. Barrels can be bad :(

Good luck either way sir!!

What sort of info are you wanting?

Try the Sniper 101 videos on You-Tube, the guy is kind of a goof, but he is pretty in depth and he also gives some decent real world advice. He has many videos covering all of the how-to-long range questions both newbies and experienced shooter may ask, I have been shooting long range for about 3 years now and I still found a pile of useful information in his videos so far, I like to stream them over the car stereo via sync jack while driving and I can just listen and think. There is a lot of information to absorb, but I believe the optics video are somewhere around part 18 or so...... he will give you some ideas and things to think about before buying an optic and a little further on, he gives some kit suggestions that you may find helpful.

Magpul also released an excellent video called "The art of the Precision Rifle" that you may be interested in viewing, lots of good information out there and honestly, if your not too gullible, you tube is an excellent resource for it.

Given that there are a few folks mentioning possible bad barrels and such, is anyone concerned that ( with the American manufacturers) they are streached a bit far trying to keep up with recent demand and that Quality control has slipped a bit?

Honestly, it's a possibility that you could get a bad barrel from any manufacturer but the odds of it actually happening are pretty slim. What kind of ammo are you using? When I bought my Savage I first tried Federal GMM and had horrible results despite the reputation of the ammunition for accuracy. I then started handloading (I intended to handload but was excited to get shooting which is why I even bothered trying factory ammo). My first powder and bullet combination was Varget and 168 Amax and after a couple of tests I had a load that would shoot .5 MOA or even a bit better when everything worked as it should. Some rifles just don't like certain ammo, no matter how good that ammo could be.

If everything is tight and clean and you have a good scope on the rifle then you can get to work finding a load that works well.

the only ammo my 10-FCPK likes is 165 GRN Federal Premium 308 sierra gameking. Shes an expensive b!tch to feed.

The blue box crap doesnt even group...
