What's left on the horizon (for milsurps) for Marstar, Districorp, P&S, Wolverine, etc, etc, to import and bring in?

Is this it compared to 10 or 15 years ago?, or is there more crates of rifles chugging across the ocean on the "surplus boat"?

Are there more snipers (M1D, Nagant, Swedish) and Garands, Mausers, out there , or is that it?

Is the Norinco line of "Made in China" M305's (M14) and SKS's the best we are going to see for the next while?

Now that the Liberals are gone, can we expect more?

I think the milsurp rifle is definitely a dying breed. The number of "acceptable" milsurps out there has dwindled significantly.

Consider that after the mid '50's the vast majority of military small arms were selective fire. That wasn't a problem in the '80's when Converted Auto's were just another rifle. We saw import of CA'd MG's, SMG's, and rifles then. We'd have to see a major legal shift to allow importation of military service arms of those types.

I would imagine that most pre-'50's rifles have been used up. Either during service, by being sold off, or destroyed as redundant. I'm sure there are still many out there, in reserve stocks, especially in Eastern Europe. The question is, will we see them, and if so, how many Mosins can a guy want? ;)

Most likely we'll see the "new manufacture" milsurp types like the VZ 58S, CZ858, and M305, but they don't hold much interest for me.

I very much agree with Steveo ---we are not allowed to own any "milsurps " from the last 40 years

And those of us who can (with our 12(whatever's)) can't shoot the damn things! All that 7.62 NATO in my locker, and I can't shoot my FAL. Can't shoot my Sten or Bren either. Bastards.

If I ever can get a SAP again, you're all invited for a range day.

The UN is also promoting a policy that any firearms surplus to official needs be destroyed, rather than sold.

What about Russia, there's still got to be lots still in warehouses.

Hell yah!
I was watching one of those "travel shows" a few months back, and it was in one of those Former Soviet states (sorry I forgot the name), and they showed a wear house Loaded with MilSurp stuff...Rifles, ammo, artillery etc, just sitting by all boxed up in cosmoline, and paper...just in case.

Funny part was the place is relatively unguarded.

I'm sure that If those regions stabilize on their own without the UN then a broker can get themselves in there, and start hauling stuff back to Canada.

One can only hope anyway. :)

There is still GOBS of stuff out there...gobs n gobs ngobs

If it ever gets here, into out grubby little hands, is another matter.

Its really up the importers (marstar and wolverine are about it in Canada now, I think)

I sure would like to see some of those 'semi only' guns from the states...PPSh41, MG-42,RPD,BAR....

Of course, Im sure the prices would be outrageous

I've seen a picture in the Winnipeg Free Press a while ago of such a depot in the Ukraine. Huge crates of all kinds of small arms and ammunition, left outside in the open, unguarded, just surrounded by wire.
The problem would be importing that stuff to Kanada; buying it from them would be the least of our problems;
Here's how I've invisioned it...in my next life...

Me: I have American Dollars, lots of vodka and good Canadian Beer!:D

Ukrainian/Russsian supply officer: SPASIBA, I vill take them both...crates you take, you take Ural truck with you. Good luck!

Me: SPASIBA TAVARISH!
(and now I'm thinking...how the faack am I going to explain this to customs and CFC?):D

Ya...but Imagine ONE seacan full of legal guns and ammo once it made it through customs....

Pick what ya want....sell rest....move to mexico

maybe 2 seacans

I know where this guy is goin on his next holiday! Id like to visit russia or poland in the next year or 2, you better believe I'll be actively hunting this stuff. Gotta love eastern europe, where money talks...

MY guess is that there's still <millions> of canada-legal milsurps gathering dust in the world's warehouses, enough to keep us busy for decades still, <if> we can get someone to buy it and import it that is. after that's all dried up, "milsurps" will be pistols only ... and maybe the odd sniper rifle.

Strictly talking about legal stuff of course... If you have the Cash in Hand and up front it is easier then one might think.

My Wife is a Shipping Logistics person for a Company and gave me a run down on how it could be done. :D

from the rumours ive herd, mostly on this forum, theres tons and tons of wondeful milsurps in russia, just waiting to get sold, apparently lots of german captured guns, aswell as all the old stuff the russian themselves didnt need.

one day it ought to find its way to canada, buy a couple of g43's and half a dusin svt's :p
