Have all the Milsurps dried up?

Here's yet another picture of an Albanian Mauser, this time in action in Kosovo. The lack of cleaning rod makes me think this guy's ready(and probably willing) to use the bayonet.

Not necessarily, the bayonet mounts over the bayonet, and the cleaning rod was removed as matter of course for scrap steel.

what about the stuff that is never seen? like bolivian and paraguayan mausers, stored or just rusted away in the jungle?

there is probably tonnes of stuff still sitting in the balkans, mid east, eastern europe, and the old USSR. mausers and mosin nagants were made by the 10's of millions.

the question is, will we ever see any of it?

missing cleaning rods

a lot of cleaning rods were discarded by the soldier in the field, just something else to get snagged when you least need it, on a lesser evil as well, weight.:) bearhunter

The UN is also promoting a policy that any firearms surplus to official needs be destroyed, rather than sold.

I believe the UN is surplus and should be destroyed since its useless.

At least get the bastards out of New York and to the Hague or better yet, france. Lets see all those tiny countries try to get property in Paris! Not to mention it would drive the gendarrmes crazy with all the unpaid parking tickets.;)

I agree John, Get Canada out of the Un and the UN out of Canada. The Un is nothing but a group of international criminals and extremists. 90% of them are afraid of an armed society within their own borders and therefore are against the sale and distribution of surplus arms. We all know what they're really afraid of, especially when we wade through their BS.;) :) bearhunter

Correction...against OTHERS selling arms, but this doesn't stop them (many of the member states) from being the biggest arms dealers in the world...in the end it is ALL about money, nothing else.

The Russians removed the cleaning rods on the Mausers when they rebuilt them, but sometimes the cleaning rods are removed by the importer. Let say a large group of guns is imported and half are missing cleaning rods, slings, lanyard rings or whatever the importer will removed all of them to avoid complaints from customers who receive a gun with the missing part.

And then they sell the missing parts on e-bay for a stupidly inflated profit. ;)

No, they usually end up in the bins of the larger parts dealers like Tapco's and others like them.

I am trying to get new items, but the importers are very secretive and I can't get a clear response from them yet. But look for new items appearing on the market in about 6 months to a year from now.

It's too bad your batch of SMLEs didn't work out that we discussed last summer, but I look forward to seeing your new arrivals. :)

This may be old info but has anyone heard an up date on the sale of captured, lend lease arms, and russian surplus that rosoboronexport, the russian state arms exporter was said to be geting rid of? anyone know of western buyers??? marstar perhaps among others??? although a t34,and t-54 would likely be outa my price range....but then again.......
