They were not cheap. They were not mixed.
I will be busy tonight measuring 150 rounds.
We ARE talking about 9 mil right? If Berger made 9 mil... they would still be cheap. We aren't talking about a cartridge that is the most demanding on ballistics. They probably came with that slight shape change. And there is a whole myriad of manufacturing reasons for that.
I'll weigh in on this and agree with legiOn and suggest there are some interesting bullets in that bulk purchase.
His skills at pointing the obvious in the group/bulk projectile photo clearly show several anomalies.
What are your intentions there OP?
Competitive Shooting or just putting some rounds down range?
Personally, I would either pull them and segregate the offending projectiles or return the lot for a refund as clearly there are some anomalies
in that lot from Speer.
They (Speer) do make a good product, but it appears your lot skipped QC.
Or you could shoot them and chalk it up to experience.

Cheap bulk bullets. Made as fast and as cheaply as they could. Like as not, a manufacturing line that serves as a dumping ground for their partly worn swaging dies so that they can get some extra life out of them.
With the state of the ammo business in the US these days, like as not the criteria they are looking for in a replacement die is simply that it be roughly bullet shaped, and make the correct diameter and weight.
You get a promise on the box, that they are all supposed to be the same diameter, and the same weight.
Buy the box that says "Match" instead of "Plinker" next time.
Much ado about nothing, IMO.
