Have you heard of the new Barnes MR X?

Interesting

but if it ain't broke why....

X's are long for their weight. You don't have to use as heavy of bullet as 'normal' to achieve the same penetration. This is hard for hunters to get in their heads. Most hunters would agree you'd want a 180 gr. bullet for moose and elk in a 30 cal, but with an X, you can get away with a 150 grain, and still penetrate as deep as a 180 gr. Partition.

I am guilty of this, I used to shoot 160 and even 175 gr. X bullets in my 7mm Rem Mag. Nowadays I'd be shooting the 120 & 140 gr. TSX's.

Not too sure about this tungsten core, seems to be getting pretty complicated. THe length of the X bullet also helps in straight line penetration. Shortening it up and adding another process to the production stages won't help accuracy much me thinks...

saying that I will probably buy a few boxes of these when they come out...

Your 260 has a short throat. This bullet would be good for that rifle since these bullets are short for their weight.

The point that legislation has been passed in Europe over lead contamination has the antis scrambling to put it together here. Just wait and see. Lead shot has been banned right? Barnes is ahead of the game.

I'm hopelessly addicted too.

The 130 TSX's I have are seated quite deep, the base of the bullet is about 1/5 of an inch into the case body.
But with my H4350 load, the powder still isn't compressed. My 260 also has a fast twist 1-8" barrel, to stabilize long bullets

I think they already are.

x3

Does Tungsten "mushroom"? I thought it was quite a hard material. And IIRC Speer uses it in their AGS bullets. This is supossedly good for the .458 WM because you can drive a 500gr bullet almost 200fps faster than a regular 500gr. But they price was astronomical when I last checked.

Im sure the new MR X will be more like a Fail Safe than a Triple Shock, a rear Tungsten core that has nothing to do with the performance of the bullet other than making it heavier for its length.

But isn't it bad to have more weight in the back? I think of it like a shuttle-####, the weight is in the front to maintain stability.
