Anyone use Hawk bullets? What are your thoughts? How challenging is it to get them in Canada?
I have a new to me rifle and the previous owner fired .358 cal jacketed bullets off the shelf without issue but noticed Hawk can provide a .355/.356 and the bullet construction seems outstanding. For low velocity, I can’t see anything wrong with a Hornady interlock or Nosler partition. Probably gonna just stick with the keep it simple mantra but figured I’d ask
Thanks

Ok thank you.
I’m beginning to think they are rather challenging to find and won’t be worth continuing the search. It’s not like they’ll do anything another bullet won’t do.
I’ll keep an eye out on the EE as I’m curious to compare them with what I’m familiar with

Update: found out Summach Sports in Fairview, AB is the only retailer in Canada carrying Hawk Bullets. They said at the best of times , an order can take a year if it’s not what they have on limited supply of inventory in stock in Fairview. So, not easy but great reviews and I’ll be ordering a bunch

Another update: the Hawk bullets apparently shipped from the states already so definitely not going to take a year to get here but may still take another month
I’d also recommend summach sports if you’re looking for bullets you can’t find. They ordered some Sierra bullets I couldn’t find in stock in Edmonton and dealing with them over email went well. Had to wait a bit as they placed the order elsewhere but I got exactly what I was looking for without any hassle

I'm about 45 mins from Fairview, if you find they have what you need but won't ship, let me know.

It wouldn't be too much of a burden on me to take them to a Canada Post or even bring them to Edmonton, I'm there every couple of months.

Another update:
Summach sports emailed me today that the Hawk bullets arrived. They are shipping them right away and I expect to see them as early as the end of this week.
Can’t wait to get them loaded up and dialed in for hunting action

I have shot Hawk bullets in my .401 WSL, .40-82 WCF, .45-70 WCF, .50-70 WCF, and .50 Alaskan rifles with great success. I have recently used Hawk .308 250gr .035 RT's in my O/U Baikal .30-06. They kick like a bugger but group 1.25-1.75" at 100yds, which IMHO is pretty good for an O/U rifle. Andy at Hawk makes some great bullets and they have performed well for me on moose, elk and deer. The Hawk bullets are worth the wait and I usually get them within a couple months from Summach if Andy has them on the shelf.

BTW, Maria at Summach offers great customer service.

Hawk bullets arrived yesterday. So for a custom size order it took just under 4 months to get to my door. All in all, pretty satisfied with that timeline.
Can’t wait to load these 250 gr .353” bullets in my 9x56 MS now.

So I made a cast of my chamber with cerrosafe. Turns out the markings of 8,6x56 1/2 mm MS is actually a 9x57. Who knew? Haha
I put a 250gr Hawk bullet through a black bear this fall and from that one experience I’ll definitely be looking forward to using them again. For anyone looking for a heavy for calibre bullet, I’d recommend checking out the Hawk bullet website and calling or emailing Summach Sports in Fairview to give these a try.
Cheers
