Hey guys... I posted in the optic thread for any advice, or information regarding the Hawke Sport 3x9x40 HD IR Rimfire Scope. I've got no replies...Does anyone have one??
I first seen the ad for them on Wild TV. I know that's not saying much. Upon doing a little research, I have found they make some half decent scopes. I talked to a Gun Smith down the road from me and he is a dealer, but only brings them in as requested. So nothing to look at. However he did say they are good quality from the ones he has brought in.

I was really leaning towards a Nikon P-22 but now am on the fence. IF anyone can chime in would be great.

They claim you can sight in bang on at 50yrds, and using reach out to 200yrds no prob. The YouTube video make it look easy, but again i'm sure that's a marketing scheme.....

Just got off the phone with Kodiac in Barrhead. They have 5 in stock, and are roughly 45mins to 1hr away. I'm going to take a drive tomorrow morning and have a look and see what I think. The guy on the phone told me they sell lots with great reviews.....

I think I read somewhere that some of the Hawke scope are the same as some of the SI sightrons...that was a while back though.

Hawke is made in China. Sightron are made in Philippines and Japan. Chinese optics are the lowest quality, Philippines are decent, and Japan are very good.

Bushnell Banner

17 Super Banner is designed specifically for .17 HMR and .22 rifles.

  • Adjustable objective

For a .22 this is the ideal scope IMO, I have two and they are great.

while i havnt tried Hawke myself over the years a lot of well respected CGNers have come in and sung up their praises of their optics.
ill admit im tempted to pick one up to have a look but $250 is a big gamble for optics that no one ever seems to have 'in stock' and 'orders in when needed'
youd think for Chinese optics the market would be flooded with them for cheap.

Well I took the drive to Barrhead, and it was worth it. I purchased the Scope. It's very clear out to the edges unlike the el cheapo Tasco I have on it now...

I love the reticles compared to the Nikon. I have the app for making any adjustments based on the ammo I use. I'll try it and see how accurate it is.

IF it doesn't work out like they advertise, they will know it as well as everyone on here! I'll be a guinee pig on this one and let you all know what I think.

Side note, I grabbed a box of Mini- Mags and 4 boxes of .22 Mag Critical Defence....

I have not tried the low end Hawke optics, but I have had many Varmint SF and Sidewinder scopes and they are excellent optics... don't think that you will find better in their respective price brackets... bright, clear, consistent and very well made.
