Head lamps?

The best one quality/price/availability so far in my 34 years of using headlamps(used to be a musher and I live in the Yukon 😉) are the Fenix brand headlamps, they are not cheap by any means but they are far from being the most expensive! They are reliable, sturdy and rechargeable!

The old (2017) Nitecore NU25 is the best headlamp I have ever used.

It has a diffused high CRI emitter which is so much easier on the eyes than anything else I've used.

At 1.5oz it's easy to turn off and forget yer even wearing the thing.

Unfortunately they updated this model, and it no longer has the high CRI emitter.

If anyone knows of something comparable. I'd love to know about it

I have used Fenix as long as I can remember.
All of those costco, cantire, homedepot headlamps are garbage.

I will add that aside from hunting, I live off grid and on a solar array. For me, a headlamp is literally a daily NEED.

I used to use petzl headlamps like crazy. But once I found Fenix, I realized that the power of a hella good flashlight n my head was a reality and I have stuck with them.

I am sure there are alternatives from streamlight $$$ or others but I run a HM65R on the “EveryDay” and when hunting, i carry a HM50r as a backup.

My whole family runs and relies on headlamps. And mostly because of me, we run Fenix.

I also have several “tactical” flashlights on various arms and when i go out to pee at 03:00 and I see green eyes reflecting from the far side of our meadow, I bust out the H18R to see whutz whut.

Again, I am sure there are other quality brands out there but for me, its Fenix first.

I have been buying cheap ones off of amazon that are rechargeable. Usually around $30 for the 2 pk. They are bright and recharge fairly fast, I carry two in my hunting pack incase one dies. Have bought many over the years and seem to have one everywhere.

I am also a fan of Fenix.

Their E18R packs a heck of a punch in a tiny rechargeable (USB ‘C’) package that clips to your cap bill…
It provides all the light I could ever need.
Surefire Maximus HS3, is by far the best light that I've ever used.... definitely probably one of the most expensive lights on the market !
* 1000 Lumens
* Infinite brightness
* rechargeable

Petzl and Black diamond. They've both been durable and have seen plenty of use. I prefer to run lithium AAA batteries so I dont need to worry about charging them. The Black Diamond one i have is newer (approximately 5 yrs old) and has more options for brightness levels. Id get both again.

I would not go into the bush with a cheap headlamp. Fenix, Black Diamond, or Petzl are what I use. I also carry an extra set of batteries. If you're miles back and your cheap Costco headlamp fails, have fun.

I suppose you could carry an extra headlamp as well. I do that at times even though I'm carrying a good quality one.

I pack a spare battery, and a hand held that uses the same battery too.

My favorite for years now.

My son and I run fenix. Swap the 800mAh batter for a 2800mAh from amazon and your run time between charges is way longer than the length of your hunt. The brightness used last is what comes on at startup and different way to get white or red light. No more scrolling through ultra bright settings to get to red. Blinding yourself in the process. Red doesn’t attract insects so very handy in the tent while setting up.

Check out soffrin. They were just on sale and maybe still are. Type c rechargeable and has red light which is valuable to have to preserve your night vision. I just got 2 delivered for $35 cdn. They have an aluminum body and seem very durable.
I also have fenix, black diamond, and milwaukee along with a few others. Led lenser has also been great.

I guess it depends on your usage and how much power you need. I have a Thrunite TH30 V2 which uses an 1860 battery, produces a wide beam for great surrounding illumination and 3,320 ANSI rated lumens on turbo and 0.3 lumens on firefly mode, six modes in total. They popup on amazon every so often for @$80 CDN.

FWIW, I have EDC'd a Thrunite TC12 V2 1860 flashlight for a few years with no issues.
