No. But that doesn't mean you aren't more sensitive to the vapors than others. You got some means of ventilation you can use?

I agree with joe-nwt. I don't get brain cramps from the powder smell but other smells send me off the deep end ie: coffee roasting shop down the street from my work, one whiff of that nasty stench and I might as well go home for the day, no kiddin.
Cigarette smoke is very mean to Noel too.

If you suffer from headaches alot, try upping your salt intake. By this I mean healthy salt that is in raw form like that stuff you get from the health store, red salt I think it's called. It has sure helped me since we discovered it!

Hope this gives you many pleasureable H414 load sessions, I love that powder!

nitroglycerin is the key to an instant headache. 414 has it. Most extruded powders don't.

Just don't touch the stuff and you should be fine (it gets absorbed through the skin readily)

yep love the smell of burnt H414 but I have had a brain ache that 4350 does'nt bring on. THanks to Prosper for pointing out the skin absorption aspect. I'll stop being such a kid in the sand box with my powder.

You might try using a charcoal filter respirator.

I know a few professional blasters that wear gloves when they handle stick
powder (dynamite); they claim the nitro gives them bad headaches. I would assume the same would go for smokeless powder. Some guys say they get a headache from spreading fertilizer on their lawn if they use their bare hands.

.......any .308 or .30-06 i have ever owned shot awesome with H414. Its a staple for me. With that said i hope you overcome your headaches. They are not fun. I used to be prone to headaches and have seemed to luck out lately as i haven't had any for awhile.

Nitroglycerin is used to treat cardiac conditions such as angina, among others. It's a vasodilator, which means it opens up the blood vessels for increased blood flow. This is good for an oxygen compromised heart, but one common side effect of nitro is headache. Nitro also dilates the vessels in / on the brain, thus you get a "vascular headache".

Perhaps wearing a medical mask would help keep the dust out of your lungs when reloading. Nitro is also absobed through the skin, so if you have powder residue on your hands etc, it can enter your system via that route too. Latex gloves may help.

If you do glove and mask up when reloading, be sure to post a pic!:dancingbanana:

Is there any long term side effects from smelling/sniffing gunpowder? I love to stick my nose in a fresh can and take a big wiff :) Oddly enough I have never had a single headache after I regain conscious.

Worse than that, it can reduce your blood pressure, and leave you feeling quite sick.

Hmmmm... Gives me an idea...Anyone out there have an old stick of dynamite? I have high BP.. maybe that would help the natropathic way;)

Powders don`t bother me but I`ve heard of ppl who it does. Like Joe-Nwt suggested, more ventilation should do the trick.
