My wife and I are headed to Norway for a couple weeks and I'd like to get some hunting in if possible. I know everything is ridiculously pricey, but out of country hunting is never cheap and I'm willing to accept that.
Has anyone here gone hunting there? We will be in the south, a few hours outside Oslo. A day of small game or upland would make me happy!

Time to put in the hours on Google and see who's offering what. :)

Check out them grouse they have over there.
About the size of a domestic turkey and they use ...wait for it... center fire rifles to shoot these things out of the trees.
Good Luck with your quest and of course take pictures or it didnt happen.

I always get pics! :)
After watching a few hunting videos I was pumped at the thought of capercaillie hunting but the season closes on Dec. 31 and we get there on Jan. 2. So far the only open season I can find is for seal hunting. Not the most challenging hunt on the planet, but definately an experience I won't be getting here in Canada anytime soon.
For those that haven't heard of this type of bird check out the video below. Sure makes all those grouse I have shot over the years look tiny!

Ha! I forgot about my own thread...
Spent three days working with a guide there to go seal hunting but Norwegian gov't staff aren't the fastest land mammals and we couldn't get the permit worked out in time. His comment "not many people out where I go hunting" (hint hint) was pretty funny but not something a guy in my line of work is going to consider! As far as landscape, much of what I saw looked like I was just outside of Thunder Bay, ON. Pretty crazy!

Upside is, my wife is headed back for work so I hope to get a roe deer hunt in this spring.
