Heading out to hunt some yote's this afternoon. I'll be using a Rem 700 SPS Tac in 223. I have a Bushnell elite 5-15X mildot scope on it, and I'll be using Hornady V-Max ammo. It's been a rough few days with my family. My mother in law is very sick. She has a bad case of pneumonia and COPD. I was woken up by my wife Friday morning and I had 40 mins to get her packed up and out to Pearson airport so she could fly out to Chilliwack BC. Her parents have been there since November, at her sisters place. Friday afternoon I drove to Quebec with my brother in law to get her medical files and will. The doctors in Chilliwack were asking about end of life decisions. That freaked out everyone. They want to put her to sleep and intubate her. As of now she is wearing a pressurized O2 mask. Her O2 levels in her blood were 56, she had blue hands and lips when EMS got her. My brother in law left for Chilliwack this morning with the paperwork. The doctors say she has a 50-50 chance of getting through this. I went to church for the first time in almost 30 years this morning. The priest was nice, and recommended that I go out and do something to take my mind off things. So hunting it is. My wife will be calling me with a update later on today. I know most of this is not a hunting topic per se, but I feel a little better getting it off my chest. I'm basically on stand-by to fly out, along with one of the grand kids - she is doing her final nursing placement for school.

It's a nice, cold, clear day. So maybe the yote's will want to play. And as my old man would say, I can get my balance back.

The "outside" is good for the "inside" of man.

Best wishes on your outdoors trip and most important, best wishes for you and your family.

There are a lot of deer tracks on the property. The herd looks healthy. Just started using the rabbit in distress call. Range to where the coyotes are going to enter the clearing is about 200M. I also see a few sets of boot prints. Trespassers have been here recently. For those that don't know about the trespassing issues, look up my turkey hunting thread from last April. When I'm done I'll call the OPP and see if they want to send a PC out for a report. My wife will be calling in 2 hours with a update. Thanks to Kamlooky and Skypilot for the well wishes. It is nice being in the woods alone. The priest was right, this is good for me. I'll update you folks later on.

A person with bad COPD will inevitably succumb to something like a cold or a flu that places an extra strain on the heart and lungs. Best to get all her things in order (power of attorney, review the will as it may be dated or inadequate, knowledge of assets, etc), and make the best of what time remains.

Tough times for your family. All you can do is be there for your wife.

Enjoy the coyote hunting, those b*st*rds deserve some lead.

Cheers
Jay

Thanks Jay. I have 40 rounds of Hornady on tap. So far no one wants to play ball. I'm hunkered down beside a pine tree. And is bloody cold out! The Yotes should be out looking for food as a storm is coming in tomorrow.

Wonderful photos. Great that you can get outdoors! good luck, subscribed to this thread would love to see if you get one of those @##$ers
Thanks 2bore. I'll post pics of anything that I nail. My weapon is a tack driver. If I can see them, they are in a world of hurt.

The legal paperwork is current as of last year. Obviously her husband will have final say. My wife and sisters in law say he is in utter shock. The past 2 days have been the worst since I was in the army and deployed to the former Yugoslavia. I'm still waiting for a phone call from my wife. If the worst is expected my niece and I will fly to Vancouver on the next flight out of Toronto.

Just talked to my wife. I'm packing up and heading home. My mother in law is now in critical condition. All of my neices are flying out today. I have to book a flight tonight or tomorrow morning. She is in a coma. And being transfered to Abbotsford. To a bigger hospital.
