Going to finally restock my components. I haven't been to any of the gunstores down south since I lived in Airdrie 3 years ago. Who has the best prices at the moment? Looking specifically for premium .40 JHP bullets and CCI 300&350 primers. Looking to pick up a few cases of .22lr and 12g as well, whatever is cheapest. Any suggestions are appreciated!

I haven't had much luck with Walmart. They rarely have a case on hand let alone several. I am looking to buy 15-20k .22lr if I can find it for $20 a brick or less. Several hundred 12g as well.

Try the CT on Macleod Trail @ Southland Drive. It's the only one with a consistent good selection of ammo.

For components, Russels first, WSS second.

what can you bring on the plane

My wife is going to Calgary on West jet. I would like her to pick a few things up for reloading (she has her RPAL as well). What can be brought back on the plane? And is any special paperwork required?

On the plane you can not take any factory loads, powder or primers. In fact, I don't even think they can air ship it a cargo plane.

You most certainly can take factory loads as checked luggage.

From that link,

# Ammunition must be:

* securely packaged and packed separately from the firearm
* carried in sturdy baggage not weighing more than 5kg (11lb) gross weight per person (excluding ammunition with explosive or incendiary projectiles)
* packaged in the manufacturer's original container or an equivalent sturdy, durable container that provides sufficient cartridge separation.

Dont forget to check out ProLine Shooters on 9th Ave SE when in town. They have a lot of stuff that the other guys cant get or stock and the pricing is well within reason. Great selection of reloading stuff such as primers/powders. Bullets are a rare commodity these days.
Good luck and sorry about the horses on the streets etc..Stampede starts right away

Staying on topic.... Is Bass Pro worth a visit or has it been cleaned out?

Ive never been able to get .22 or .243 ammo at Bass Pro, been maybe 10x never seen it there. It being 10 min from home I find it a waste of time everytime I go ( the first time I went it was fun ) better off goin to CT!!..

It's absolutely worth a visit to see the store, the displays, etc.

It's absolutely a waste of time going there for reloading components.

Thanks a lot, I'll stop at TSE I always do. Looks like Proline and Macleod CT then maybe Bass Pro on the way outta town. I can't stand Russel's or WSS, no sense in going there. They rarely had any stock even before the stupidity began. Thanks guys!

If you are in Red Deer,I would just drop into Bashaw Sports and visit Pud.He always has a good selection, and the service is great.Besides,it is less than half the distance to Calgary from Red Deer.

I am already headed south and money is a bit tight so I figured two birds one stone. I do agree it's a great store though!

It's worth a visit as a tourist attraction and an impressively huge store. If you were planning on buying anything, it's a waste of time. It hasn't even been cleaned out, it just never had anything to start with. There are acres of empty shelves that have never had stock on them that I can tell. If you want fishing rods or shorts or hats, they are good to go, however...

Actually, WRT Bass Pro, I've never seen so much camo... if that's your thing LOL

Really though, the store is worth a look, just to see the store.
