I have shot a bunch of barnaul, works fine in my gun.

I shot both Barnaul and Norinco and they give similar groups with my sks. I would buy which ever is on sale at that time. Norinco was selling with $199/600 rounds a few months ago. My Chinese corrosive I got last year with $299 for 1500 rounds really sucks. I cant hit the target At 50 m with it. I thought it was something wrong with the rifle until I shot the non corrosive ammo��

The barnaul they sell is cheaper than the 30 yr old chinese,,,why buy surplus when there is new production, both are cheap and non corrosive.....Ive found the 308 barnaul is way more accurate than the norinco for a cheap round

FWIW, there's at least one type of 7.62x39 on sale at Cabelas every week, and they stock a few varieties and quantities. If you live in a Cabelas city, the deals are hard to beat. About the only well priced commodity in the whole store though... lol.
