Anyone had any issues with the heath depts and thier club banquets after the new BC laws regarding meat inspection came to pass? Any other issues?
 
We used to do smorgs for each high school grade at our school. Each member of each grade would take in a dish for 20. We'd charge $5 a person and have up to 400 members of a 500 person village show up for it. Alberta Health Dept shut 'er down due to province wide regs regarding food not cooked in industrial kitchens, costing us 8 grand a year.

Oh well. Who needs Art and Music anyway?

What was their threat if you just continued to do it?
Seems like it'd be pretty hard for them to come and arrest 400 people. Maybe you should have told them to just shove it up their asses.
 
Local group of elderly church ladies used to make up "box lunches" for a yearly music festival that was held in their town. Health dept came in determined that the egg salad sandwiches were not prepared in an approved kitchen, so they poured bleach over them so they couldn't be served (sandwiches not ucw members). Wish the old ladies had of ganged up on them and beat them senceless with whatever they could get hold of!

Fines.

A complaint to bureaucrats at the school board would make them worry that we would be written up for it.

A health dept. report would be published. School boards don't like to be in the media unless they've put themselves there.

Parents would get hold of it.

"Chicken Little Syndrome" would set in and a small select group of rabid no minds would accuse us of negligence or willful neglect in the "attempted poisoning" of their precious little monsters.

School boards spend millions in trying to prevent "lightning strikes" (school shootings, poisoning by pot luck). Not that anyone actually believes they can prevent it. They merely wish to remove some liability by being able to say "we had a procedure in place".

You know Skippy, that isn't how schools usaully deal with things. Usaully the exact opposite. Teachers are anal rule followers.
