Ok, don't shoot the messenger. I am not about to advocate eating Tofu or some other crap.

I am as I imagine fairly typical of many of the hunters who read this forum. In my forties and a lardass who serves a lot of his food in the time honoured method of "a pile of meat, some spuds and go light on that green crap." Now I do actually eat a lot of veggies and salad stuff as well. I also fly a desk at work and I am pretty unfit and hunting is a fair part of my exercise. (walking to the truck, walking to the outhouse... ;) )

So one of the reasons I hunt is to eat food that I know were not injected with crap at a factory farm.....then I go and fry it in butter. Ouch. Not everything mind you, mainly partridge as it tastes so awesome like that.

So my point is this. Why don't we collect together a selection of healthy recipes in one place that use all of that un-buggered meat and might just keep me ticking over until I am old enough to bore my grandkids senseless with hunting stories?

I barbecue a lot of my meat and roast a lot more, but then I tend to stick to the traditional piles of carbs and saturated fats to dress it all up nicely. Actually about the only thing I fry up in butter is partridge. Buuuuut, getting back to the point I then serve it up with crap.

Any suggestions/comments?

I got this idea from someone else on this forum about venison and olive oil. Instead of using pork to add fat to the ground venison, use olive oil. Here's my basic burger mix for one pound of ground venison

1 lb ground venison
3-4 tablespoons of olive oil
1 egg
half cup of instant oats (add more if mixture too wet)
tablespoon of ketsup
garlic powder
salt and pepper to your taste

I like it enough that I've started grinding my own venison and skipped the butcher version with added pork.
