I have a Dominion Grizzly Mag with an 18" barrel and it is Mag fed. I have the Magpul SGA stock and forend on it with a rail and an ACOG-Style Bushnell Trophy on top, and a rail, Magpul vertical foregrip, and Streamlight on the forend.

I am thinking of a heat shield, mostly for the looks but also beause the barrel heats up when firing multiple slugs in rapid succession.

Who makes a heat shield that will fit my gun, what are the approximate costs for the various models, and Where might I best obtain one?

Thanks,
Alec

Tacstar makes a nice one that fit Mossberg's well and are supposed to be universal fit. Wholesale sports usually has them. I think they're $30 or $40. The ones from ATI don't impress me, along with everything else they've ever made. I'm not a fan of heatshields much as they don't let you clean and oil the outside of the barrel without removing them which is a pain with the Tacstar one. I had to remove the bead before installing/removing it every time. They do heat up and will get hot enough to burn your hands after a while. They sure do look cool though :)

Tacstar's are the best I've used. Doesn't fit a 590A1 heavy barrel without modification though. Should fit OP's so long as it's a standard thickness barrel.

I have the Tacstar on my mossberg 590A1 SPX heavy barrel, you just have to make sure you really crank that sucker down.

First time out, I had it slide forward after a few rounds.

The only thing you have to do is widen the rear part of it next to the receiver to accommodate the wider width of the barrel

The plastic ghost right sights are mostly useless...

Well, my Dominion has a large fixed front sight blade on it. I don't see any way to remove it or to slip the Tacstar shield over the chamber end. Any other ideas?

Thanks for the advice so far!

Could open the heat shield nice and wide, slip it on and then close it back up while in position maybe?
